OUR NEW WEEK begins with some intensity, as the independent Aries Sun squares authoritative Pluto on Monday. This aspect means that we may be dealing with discomforting circumstances that evoke deep emotions as we begin the week.
The rest of the aspects that perfect over the next seven days are relatively minor. However, the planetary aspects that occur on a specific day or during a certain week don't always tell the whole story of the energies that we are working with.
NOT REVEALED by this week's calendar is that we are now entering eclipse season. Our next lunation -- the Taurus New Moon on April 30 -- will be a partial Solar Eclipse. Eclipse season is a time when we can expect accelerated evolution and change. From now through the end of May, transformational energies are heightened, even if not indicated by daily planetary aspects.
Also not shown by astrological calculations is our daily space weather. This includes activities on our physical Sun and in the Earth's magnetic field. Scientific studies have demonstrated that solar flares and geomagnetic storms can affect our physical, emotional, and mental states. Metaphysically, we are aware that these events can help propel us into new levels of consciousness, as they move and clear the energies in our physical, emotional, and mental bodies. This energy movement often brings issues to the surface to be released, so that we are no longer limited by them.
This weekend, a large region of sunspots is rotating around to the Earth-facing side of the sun. Over the past two days (April 16-17), it has already released three significant solar flares: one X-flare and two M-class flares. Astronomers expect more major activity in the days ahead, but unlike astrological aspects, solar activity is notoriously unpredictable!

DAY BY DAY, here are the planetary aspects we'll be working with this week:
Monday
Venus sextile Uranus: This aspect provides an opportunity to relate in a new way, allowing compassion and understanding to guide our interactions.
Sun square Pluto: Situations that feel outside of our control can bring up intense emotions and even anger.
Tuesday
Sun enters Taurus: The Sun will be in peace-loving Taurus from April 19 to May 20. During this month, we are especially drawn to enjoy those things that delight the five physical senses: beauty, nature, music, touch, scents, and flavors. Like Ferdinand the Bull, we may prefer to sit in the meadow and smell the flowers rather than doing battle en la plaza de toros.
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

Saturday
Mercury conjunct North Node: Thoughts and communications are drawn to practical concerns. Making concrete plans for the future can bring peace of mind. Some may be inspired to learn more about nature or the environment.
Sunday
Mercury square Saturn, Mercury sextile Neptune: Conversations and other communications run into obstacles. These blocks can be eased if we imagine the words coming from our hearts rather than from our heads. This will enable us to speak with compassion rather than out of a need to control a situation.
