InnerSelf Newsletter: December 18th, 2016

Welcome... Our InnerSelf welcomes your inner self.

This time of year can be both a blessing and a curse. While we may all wish to focus on sharing love, gratitude and giving unconditionally, we may get entangled in stress, not-enough-time, and family dramas. Yet there are ways to sail through the challenges of this season (and the rest of the time as well).

This week, we bring you various tools and perspectives to make your journey a more peaceful and harmonious one. Scroll down for the Editor's Choice articles as well as this week's additional articles.

It has also come to my attention that there is a boycott of Amazon underway. I would like to point out that there are many small businesses (including InnerSelf) who sell books on Amazon and depend on those sales for income, as well as commission on sales accessed via our website and link.

Perhaps, if you're choosing to boycott Amazon, you could differentiate between those products that are sold by 3rd-party vendors (like InnerSelf) and those that are sold by Amazon directly. If you scroll down to the bottom on any Amazon page, you will see a list of all the businesses they own (it's a long list), and that way can differentiate between those of us who depend on our sales on Amazon to earn a living, and the companies that are Amazon-owned. Thanks.

Wishing you enjoyable insightful reading, and of course a wonder-full, joy-full, and loving week, and holiday season.

You and The People You Are Supposed To Like Or Love But Can’t Stand

This article is about the people you are supposed to like or love but can’t stand, such as extended family or friends of friends. Currently, most relationships are forged from the erroneous idea that we have to be the same to get along and that differences between us are to be avoided at all costs.

Self-Image: “I Can Do It” vs. “I’m No Good at This”

If you’ve only ever seen yourself as unsure and perhaps your self-esteem is not strong, you may be more vulnerable to becoming overwhelmed by fear—stressed by the worry that your pain might devolve into a worst case scenario of unknown proportions.

How to Treat Others with Love and Understanding While Resolving A Problem

Written by Kira Asatryan.

Solving Problems Through Understanding, Rather Than Compromise

While feelings are a central component to caring, caring is not an entirely emotional experience. There’s also an intellectual component to caring, a mental stance that one must maintain to create lasting closeness. This stance is that your partner is fully human.

The "Living in Harmony" section includes articles on Health & Well-Being, Home & Garden, Pets, Leisure & Creativity, Finance & Careers, and Science and Technology.

The "Personal Development" area covers Attitude Adjustments (which includes Fear, Anger, Gratitude, Forgiveness), Relationships & Parenting, Spirituality & Mindfulness (including Meditation), Intuition & Awareness (including astrology), and Happiness & Success.

"Social & Political" covers topics that affect us personally yet deal with a more "societal" or "political" sphere. This area covers Environment & Climate, Democracy, Justice, Inequality, Economy, and more. These topics are very relevant for our communal journey on Planet Earth.
