InnerSelf Newsletter: February 4th, 2018

Welcome... Our InnerSelf welcomes your inner self.

The theme this week is "seeing things differently"... which reminds me of the title of Wayne Dyer's book, You'll See It When You Believe It". Wayne flipped around the expression, I'll believe it when I see it, to the more "meta-physical" or quantum-energy-like saying, I'll see it when I believe it, focusing on the power of our thoughts and expectations.

The choice of the photo for this newsletter epitomizes the fact that appearances are not always reality. To look at trees in winter, or in the fall when they have shed their leaves, could lead one to believe that the trees have died, never to live again. However, experience has shown us that this is incorrect. While we may see what looks like a dead tree, when Spring rolls around, we see a vibrant tree renewed with life and energy. Thus appearances can be deceiving. If we mistook the appearance of a dead tree as reality, we might chop it off at its roots not giving it a chance to rebound with vigor in the Spring.

If you're a regular reader of InnerSelf, you know that many of our writers and articles emphasize the power of our mind and thoughts. This week, we expand that to "how we see things"... which deals with our expectations, our projections, and includes our fears and doubts... We start with D. Patrick Miller and "Learning To See Everything Differently" followed by "When You Have to Choose: Feeling Your Way to a Decision" which involves another way of seeing our life choices. Sarah Varcas introduces us to "Eris: The Radical Feminine..." which also presents another way of seeing ourselves as women and as human beings... and visioning the future of our planet.

And as beings in relationships, we also can benefit from seeing our relationships differently. Joyce Vissell shares from her new book "How to Love a Man" with her article "To Really Choose a Man" and Alan Cohen looks at Valentine's Day (and loving relationships) differently in "A Different Kind of Valentine".  Anne Morjanoff shares her experience on the road of life and having a loved one with cancer (offering us yet again another perspective) in "The Road Ahead: Choosing to Live With Dedicated Awareness".

While those are our featured articles, our numerous additional articles also offer ways of seeing things differently... Check out "Why Icelanders Are Super Creative", "Why We Need Radical Imagination", "Why We Trust Some Strangers More Than Others", "Why The Difficult Person At Work Probably Isn't A Psychopath", and more. Scroll down below for these and many other articles selected for your information, insight, and inspiration.

Wishing you enjoyable insightful reading, and of course a wonder-full, joy-full, and loving week.

When You Have to Choose: Feeling Your Way to a Decision

The way you think about decisions gives you a remarkable decision-making super power that enables you to make decisions with confidence even when you have just the smallest glimpse of data. As a matter of fact it’s so good that, if you were the only one who had it, you could charge a fortune on your own psychic hotline. Fortunately for the rest of us, we all come hard-wired with this amazing capability, and all we have to do is learn to use it effectively.

Eris: The Radical Feminine Awakens

Written by Sarah Varcas

Eris: The Radical Feminine Awakens

Eris, in all her mighty glory, comes to set things straight. Eris knows the power of the feminine, the raw, primal force of childbirth, the fierce protection of a mother’s love, the enduring strength of a broken but embracing heart and the power of an awakened womb which nurtures deep within the hopes and dreams of generations.

To Really Choose a Man

Written by Joyce Vissell

To Really Choose a Man

To really love a man is to choose him over and over again. It’s not enough to say marriage vows one time, though that is certainly important. The relationship is deepened if you let him know often that you would choose him all over again if given the choice.

The Road Ahead: Choosing to Live With Dedicated Awareness

The Road Ahead: Choosing to Live With Dedicated Awareness

A funeral sometimes results in introspection about our own mortality. Throughout that irksome journey, we discussed our feelings about life and death. We shared experiences, sorrowful personal losses and our mundane philosophies on death and dying, not expecting it to be any more than a normal reaction to the passing of a family member.
