an open eye seeing what is

Our InnerSelf welcomes your inner self.

For many years, in the personal empowerment spiritual teachings, we were instructed to look within. At times, some were accused of navel-gazing, implying perhaps a selfish self-centered approach to life. While there may be some truth to that, it was part of the process. The navel is where the solar plexus or the power chakra is located, and connecting to our power center is essential in discovering who we are, who we can be, and what we are here to be and do.

Looking within is an essential first step. But, we must expand this process to the outside world. We must now expend our energies in "looking within" the world around us -- looking at the inner workings and purpose of the institutions that direct our lives, the people who make decisions supposedly with our well -being in mind, and looking also "within" the path we have chosen, or perhaps we have allowed others to choose for us.

We must now learn to look within others (as well as within ourselves) to discern their motivation and their goals. We are moving out of the Piscean age which was the age of martyrdom and submission to a power outside of ourselves. We are now moving into the age of empowerment where we must look within and without (outside of ourselves) to discern the truth in our reality, and to choose and affirm the path we wish to walk. This requires looking at what is, not just within our own self, but in the world around us.

Many of us (and I include myself in this group) have not wanted to see the horrific expressions of darkness that are "out there"... the murder of innocent children in classrooms, the raping of the resources of our Mother Earth, and the raping of individuals whether sexually or by stripping them of their rights, dignity and power. This all equates the domination of others that are somehow considered "lesser than", in the name of control or greed.

I have just gone through surgery for glaucoma. Metaphysically, glaucoma has to do with not wanting to see everything around us. It also has do do with unshed tears. When I connected to this truth within, I realized that, even though it can be extremely painful and heart-breaking to see the hatred and darkness that is being expressed "out there" (which is also a reflection of "in here" as well), if we don't see it, if we don't acknowledge it, we also cannot do anything about it. In order to heal any wound, any disease (whether physical or emotional), we must acknowledge that there is a problem. Only then can we take steps to heal the situation with compassion, strength of purpose, and  dg so with unconditional love.

So this week, I encourage all of us to look at the world we live in and see what resonates with our true inner loving being, and what does not... And then, ask yourself what you can do about it, getting in touch with the powerful being that you are. And, yes this entails feeling the extreme pain caused by the horror show that is taking place on earth, but then, it also allows us to see how we each can make a difference. We are all unique and have our own gifts to share with the world. Our goal must be to manifest, not the "hell on earth" that seems to be currently happening, but "heaven on earth". We can do it! Let's look within as well as around us and find what we can do to create change...
