Will America Move Closer Towards The Darkside?

Clearly less than 10% of the population has already moved to the darkside. And another 20-25% quietly support them and 20-25% openly oppose them. That leaves roughly 30-50% who don't participate in the voting process at all depending on whether presidential or not. .
America has never been a pure democracy but is a representative democratic republic. And simply that representation has been utterly corrupted, mostly by republican-types, with obscene amounts of money that is nothing more than simple bribery. It is lawless, it is corruption, and it is pure evil.
America is divided and at the brink of its democracy imploding. While today's uptake seems to be about Trump it really isn't. It's about The Republican party's lack of courage and failure to support America and the democratic principles upon which it is founded.

Donald Trump has gone full QAnon. As he spoke during a rally for Ohio Republican candidates on Saturday, a soundtrack associated with the conspiracy theory played. That elicited one-armed salutes — another QAnon symbol — from many attendees.
The display bore an uncanny resemblance to the infamous Nazi salute. The delusional incitement and zombie-like response should put to rest the notion that President Biden (or anyone) should be “reaching out” to these people. They are unreachable, and pretending otherwise misleads voters.

One could also make a case for the 1876 election when second place finisher Rutherford B. Hayes was anointed president in a backroom deal that ended reconstruction and withdrawal of federal troops from the south.
