Overview: December 15 - 21, 2025
A GALACTIC NEW MOON: At the center of our galaxy is a supermassive black hole, about the size of four million suns. Our solar system and our entire galaxy rotate around this mysterious point in space, which is appropriately named the Galactic Center (GC). From Earth's perspective, the GC is located at about 27° Sagittarius; our New Moon this Friday, December 19, occurs at 28°24' Sagittarius and thus is tightly conjunct the GC.
Astrologer Philip Sedgwick has done extensive research on the metaphysical effects of the Galactic Center, and shares these insights:
"The GC emits a wide array of powerful radiation, most notably infrared. This infrared energy pressures the subconscious mind, providing the release of learned behavior and memories, both negative and positive, all in the interest of moving forward. The energetic crowding process pushes out mentally/emotionally stored data, to clear space for new information to enter both the conscious and subconscious minds."
To help us conceptualize how the GC works energetically, Mr. Sedgwick uses the analogy of running a "defrag" process on a hard drive, in which "wrong or undesired segments of information and knowledge are deleted, wiped from the consciousness with no trace. At the end of the defrag, all available storage capacity waits at the ready for the next inflow of information."
"The Galactic Center’s infrared jolt to the energy field naturally induces the release of past memories that preclude an individual from making progress in life. The mental barriers to understanding a new idea or receiving insight gracefully yield under this influence."
Once the GC has cleared the consciousness of undesired knowledge and beliefs, we can then receive a download of information. In this context, Mr. Sedgwick calls the GC "one of the Creator’s loudspeaker systems" and informs us that "the information from the GC is incisive, direct, informative, and about six to nine months ahead of its time."
When Sun and Moon align at 5:43 p.m. PST on December 19, they will activate the GC defrag process, clearing the way for new insights and understandings. This influence will be observable in various ways throughout the new lunar cycle.

AND THAT'S NOT ALL: Even if it were not aligned with the Galactic Center, this last New Moon of 2025 would still be considered a powerful event. The lunation is square both Neptune and Saturn in Pisces, thus activating the Saturn-Neptune conjunction and requiring us to face a reality that we may have been avoiding. Potential manifestations include confusion or discouragement as illusions fade and masks dissolve. Core beliefs are challenged and may be rewritten.
The status and integrity of partnerships, alliances, financial matters, and creative endeavors are highlighted with the New Moon conjunct both Venus and the asteroid Juno in late degrees of Sagittarius. The lunation is also separated by only five degrees from Mars in early Capricorn, increasing determination, self-reliance, and the ability to pour our energy into a longer-term goal.
Restlessness and rebelliousness are woven into the fabric of the New Moon due to a very tight quincunx aspect to Uranus (28°19' Taurus). Unexpected or surprising events can occur when the sideways-spinning planet is strongly activated. Meanwhile, Luna's quincunx to Sedna in early Gemini tells stories of deception, betrayal, and abandonment.
Offering us the rewards of our efforts and for our attention to self-care, the New Moon is also trine both Wounded Healer Chiron and Eris, Warrior for Women's Rights. With these lunar aspects, we are overcoming victim consciousness and gaining the confidence to take positive, assertive, unapologetic action.
A CROSSROADS: The New Moon is also tightly conjunct the asteroid Hekate (27°50' Sagittarius), who is known as the "goddess of the crossroads." This mysterious figure is depicted as carrying torches that light the way in times of darkness. In ancient portraits, she is shown to have three heads, each of which looks in a different direction.
The Greeks believed that Hekate was the guardian of travelers and those who were lost. She represented wisdom and the light that guides us across thresholds and through uncertain, liminal times, in which we can perceive both potential and danger.
DAILY ASPECTS THIS WEEK (December 8 - 14, 2025):
Here are my brief interpretations of this week's most important aspects, day by day:
Monday
No major aspects are exact today.
Tuesday
Sun trine Eris, Sun square Saturn: While we may feel inspired and courageously determined to stand for a cause that we believe in, there are some practical matters that must be addressed before we can move forward.
Wednesday
Mercury sesquiquadrate Chiron, Mercury sesquiquadrate Jupiter: Communications could be challenging today, due to people being extra sensitive and perhaps defensive.
Thursday
Venus trine Chiron: We have the opportunity to improve relationships with others and with ourselves today. Emotions that are channeled through artistic self-expression offer a road to healing.
Mercury sesquiquadrate Eris: Controversies, especially involving women, take the news headlines today. Words may be spoken impulsively or in anger.
Friday
Sun quincunx Uranus: We might feel restless today and bored with old routines. Nervous energy and anxiety are heightened. Some may act impulsively or behave erratically.
New Moon: The new lunar cycle begins at 5:43 p.m. PST, when the Sun and the Moon align at 28°24' Sagittarius.
Saturday
Venus trine Eris, Venus square Saturn: We could be inspired to take the initiative in support of a cause today. However, our assertiveness and strong beliefs can lead to relationship challenges with those who see reality through a different lens.
Mercury square nodal axis: An active and opinionated mind could interfere with our ability to forgive and let go of judgment.
Sun square Neptune: Ideals are being challenged and we may be confused about what we believe at this point. It could be hard to hear the voice of intuition due to being extra sensitive to the emotions in the collective field. We might need to sit with the discomfort for now and wait for the fog to clear.
Sunday
Jupiter square Chiron: Some may be facing challenges to their beliefs or a crisis of faith. Deep wounds caused by prejudice and discrimination, religious dogmas and trauma, or social injustice are being exposed. This is the second of three Jupiter-Chiron squares; the first occurred on October 23 and the last will perfect on July 1, 2026.
Sun enters Capricorn (Solstice): The Sun enters Capricorn today at 7:02 a.m. PST. A chart drawn for the Solstice reveals the main themes for the new season that begins now; with this event occurring just two days after the New Moon, most of the aspects appearing in that chart will also influence the next three months. A notable difference is that the Moon in the Solstice chart is in Capricorn, opposing Jupiter and squaring Chiron and Eris. This indicates that the issues represented by today's Jupiter-Chiron square will play an important role in our collective experience going forward.

If Your Birthday Is This Week (December 15 - 21):
Collaboration and cooperation are important themes for you this coming year. However, you also have a strong need to be independent and will feel restless if you compromise too many of your own desires. Old beliefs are being challenged and you might feel somewhat adrift, especially in the early months of 2026. Emotional self-care and activities that bolster your belief in yourself are central to your success. (Solar Return Sun conjunct Venus, conjunct Mars, square Saturn, quincunx Uranus, square Neptune, trine Chiron, trine Eris)
